Penis Health in the New Year – 6 Resolutions

January 2, 2015

Many, if not most, people make some kind of New Year’s resolution - a promise to oneself to make a positive change in one’s life in the coming year. This often involves a health, career or relationship goal. Unfortunately, almost as many resolutions are broken as are made each year. Men can increase their odds of sticking to resolutions this time around if they know just what benefits will be reaped from doing so. In this vein, making oneself a promise to practice better penis health in the new year is a great idea - the advantages a man gains from the following practices will enhance both his solo and partner-based sexual activities, which is something well worth a little effort.

1) Wash it on the daily.

If a man doesn’t shower every single day, it’s not usually a big deal, especially if he hasn’t engaged in activity that leaves him sweaty or dirty. But it behooves a man to at least give his member a good rinse with warm (not hot) water every day. Circumcised men in particular should make this a priority; smegma builds up under the foreskin, creating a ripe environment for bacterial infections, not to mention unpleasant smells.

2) Ditch abrasive cleansers.

If a man is used to washing his equipment with the same body washes or soaps he uses on the rest of his body, he may be promoting dry, irritated penile skin. Men should either avoid soap completely on their members or use a very gentle, all-natural soap.

3) Learn some new positions.

A healthy, vibrant sex life is an important component of penis health; regular use of the tool keeps it in shape and increases the likelihood that function will be maintained as a man ages. And of course, a healthy sex life involves some thought into a sexual partner’s enjoyment and desires as well. A man can research sex positions that will hit his partner’s pleasure zones in new and exciting ways.

4) Lose the belly.

Excess abdominal fat is linked to a host of dangerous health conditions, including heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes. But it can also affect sexual health. Extra pounds slow a man down and limit the positions he can perform without causing discomfort or pain for his partner. And besides, a hanging gut can cover the base of the penis, making it appear shorter than it is. While size isn’t nearly as important as most men think, this optical illusion of a shorter member may affect some men’s confidence and self-esteem.

5) Learn a relaxation technique or two.

Cortisol, one of the body’s primary stress hormones, is a major libido killer. For one, it’s hard to be in the mood when one is anxious, angry or in some other state of high alert. But stress also affects male desire on a biochemical level; high cortisol levels correspond to low levels of testosterone, which is needed in ample supply to maintain a healthy drive. Relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, meditation and guided imagery can help a man manage both acute and chronic stress.

6) Buy the tool a gift.

There are products out there designed specifically to yield penile benefits. It’s best to avoid devices that promise to enhance the organ in terms of length, since these are likely a bunch of malarkey, and some are even dangerous. But a quality product designed to promote overall organ health - from the skin to the circulatory system to the nerves - may be a wise investment.

A quality penis health cream (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) can do just that with the help of ingredients like Shea butter, alpha lipoic acid and L-arginine. Also look for vitamin C on the ingredient list, which promotes collagen production and, therefore, more youthful penile skin.

However, delayed ejaculation can be a real problem for some men (and their partners); it can also indicate an underlying health condition. There are several different ways in which delayed ejaculation can manifest, with some men completely unable to release and others needing more than 30 minutes of stimulation in order to do so. Men’s health specialists often hear from patients with concerns about peeling penis skin. Fortunately, in most cases, there is a simple explanation, and the itching and peeling can be treated easily at home through improved hygiene techniques and ongoing attention to penis care. On the other hand, some men may require more intens...

January 1, 2015

As they say in real estate, location is everything - and that can also apply to those in search of even better sex than they already enjoy. While other factors, such as maintaining proper penis health, are certainly important, it’s also true that where one decides to have sex can have an impact on the excitement one feels during the act of sexual congress.

Naturally, the bedroom is a perfectly lovely place in which to engage in carnal knowledge. There’s nothing quite like a good, comfo...

Making Sexual Fantasies Come True

December 31, 2014

Sexual fantasies are part and parcel of every man’s daily life; sometimes they remain fantasies, but in many cases they can be brought into the real world and may lead to better sex for a man and his partner (or partners). A guy alone with an erect penis can be forgiven for indulging in a little masturbation now and then. There’s nothing wrong with masturbation, but sometimes a guy falls into a situation where he’s fondling himself a bit too often - or a bit too roughly. Safe Sex Advice – Lube Ingredients to Avoid

December 30, 2014

The two staples of safe sex are condoms and lubrication. Condoms form a physical barrier that interrupts the transfer of semen and many viruses, helping prevent pregnancy and various sexually transmitted infections. Lubricant helps reduce friction when using a condom, thereby reducing the chance that the barrier will break. However, safe sex entails more than picking up a couple products at the pharmacy or grocery store; to truly be safe, additional considerations should be kept in mind. Pro...

Erectile Dysfunction – Are the Winter Blues to Blame?

December 29, 2014

Some men may find that their sexual performance undergoes a decline in the winter months. If symptoms of erectile dysfunction (such as weak erection, inability to orgasm or lack of erection) occur primarily in the cold season, the source might be "the winter blues," or seasonal affective disorder. While it’s important to rule out physiological sources behind poor penis health, men should not discount the role emotional states play in physical well-being or lack thereof.

Erections rely on...

Sexual Health – Know the Common Sex Myths

December 29, 2014

Common myths about sex and the penis can impact a man’s sexual health in a number of ways, from causing him to avoid healthy behaviors or encouraging him to adopt unhealthy ones to the effects they may have on a man’s self-esteem and, in turn, performance ability.
